RIP Terry Anderson

Terry Anderson was an Associated Press correspondent who was kidnapped in Lebanon by Hezbollah militants. He was captured in 1985 and was not released until 1991. In his book, Den of Lions, he describes his ordeal. He moved to Yonkers when he returned to the United States.

Anderson was the keynote speaker at the Yonkers Public Library’s 100th Anniversary Gala on October 4, 1993. You can watch video footage of this event on the YPL Digital Archive. In his speech, Anderson describes the important impact libraries had on his life and some of his experiences as being a hostage.

Terry Anderson passed away on April 21, 2024. May he rest in peace!
