Yonkers Commission on Human Rights will host a free showing of the film ‘10,000 Black Men Named George’ about A. Philip Randolph and his coworkers Milton P. Webster and Ashley Totten. The title refers to the custom of the time when Pullman porters, all of whom were black, were addressed as "George"; a sobriquet for George Pullman, who owned the company that built the sleeping cars (and other Railroad cars) and the industry. The film follows union activist A. Philip Randolph's efforts to organize the black porters of the Pullman Company in 1920s America, known as the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters.
