Through its long and varied history, Westchester has been home to a great many prominent
authors. Its natural beauty and stimulating topography, towns with unique characteristics, andproximity to Manhattan have all contributed to its allure for writers. Beginning with WashingtonIrving and James Fenimore Cooper, and continuing through the centuries to current novelists, this digital slide presentation focuses on several leading authors who used their realWestchester communities as inspiration in their fictional stories.

Barbara Davis, co-director of the Westchester County Historical Society, will be giving the lecture.
