The world’s oceans are a life giving force, fostering travel, exploration and supplying food to the multitudes from mankind’s beginning. The sea has captured artists’ imaginations in so many ways: from tumultuous seas to calm oceans; ships at port to children frolicking at the beach.

Join Prof Val Franco for a look at these captivating seascapes, and the way that artists have used color and composition to connect us to these vast, ever-changing, bodies of water throughout time.
