Do you find yourself feeling like you have too much clutter? Maybe there’s a junk drawer that you haven’t looked through or a closet that you need to clean out. Maybe you just haven’t gotten to that spring cleaning yet. Cleaning and decluttering is no easy feat, but there’s no better day to start than today: Get Organized Day!
Get Organized Day 2024 is April 26. While there’s not much history to the day, its purpose is clear: taking a day to get organized, make a plan, and tackle whatever mess you choose!
There are a lot of ways to organize your daily life. This can include having a daily to-do list or a pocket-sized notebook to write down items like a shopping list, errands, or random thoughts you want to remember. It can also be helpful to go through your bag or your wallet and clean it out of old receipts or other papers you don’t need to be carrying.
Getting organized at home can include taking advantage of the space that you already have. Regularly decluttering items you don’t want or need is helpful to managing your space, but you can also take advantage of organizational furniture that helps you take advantage of unused space, such as a storage box that can fit under your bed or a bin you can fit on a shelf to contain some clutter.
When you set out to complete any task, it’s important to set SMART goals that are:
- Specific
- Measureable
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Time Bound
SMART goals can start small and keep you focused on the things you can achieve without feeling so big and impossible that you never work towards your goal at all.
