I Love Yarn Day- October 14, 2023

I Love Yarn Day is celebrated on the second Saturday of each October. YPL certainly loves yarn, hosting a multitude of fiber-focused programs each year. Here are some of my favorite crochet projects, local yarn boutiques, and YPL craft programs, past and present.

Patterns:

1. Turtle Crochet Pattern- Pink Mouse Boutique

This is a great beginner amigurimi project! This pattern only uses single crochet and chain stitches and can be made in such a fun variety of colors. Try a “best-friends” set as I made here, or host a fundraiser by crocheting pink turtles for breast cancer, green for Cerebral Palsy, or teal for mental health awareness!

2. Classic Bunny Crochet Pattern- 1 Dog Woof

I use this pattern for all my baby gifts. I love pairing it with So Many Bunnies, a darling children’s book, and a pastel satin ribbon. Unfortunately, this lovely pearlescent yarn I would use for this pattern is no longer sold, but it works wonderfully with Lion Brand Go for Faux Thick and Quick as well (I use the color Baked Alaska)

3. Crochet Hanging Plant- Yours Truly!

I couldn’t find a pattern I loved for a crocheted hanging snake plant. I just loved the way it turned out, so wrote out the pattern to share with you!

4. Crochet Lily of the Valley- Yours Truly (again)!

These trendy little flowers make lovely door hangers and look lovely dangling from a rearview mirror. They are especially cute with jingle bells inside and make an adorable gift!

This image of crochet lily of the valley is not my own but used for demonstration purposes. Find the image source in the link above.

5. Colorado Throw- Mama in a Stitch

This blanket is fun and quick to make, and is a perfect gift! I used the color Haze, which worked into a beautiful neutral pastel blanket.
