The Oscars 2025

The 97th Academy Awards - The Oscars - are on Sunday, March 2. The Oscars is one of the most highly coveted awards in Hollywood, celebrating the amazing work of actors, producers, writers, directors, and the many people who make movies come to life on the big screen.

WickedAdapted from the book by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has enjoyed years of success on Broadway before going to the big screen. It’s up for several awards including Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Cynthia Erivo), Actress in a Supporting Role (Ariana Grande), Costume Design, Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Production Design, Sound, and Visual Effects.

ConclaveOriginally published in 2016, Conclave follows the story of a papal conclave that gathers to elect a new pope. Conclave is nominated for Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Ralph Fiennes), Actress in a Supporting Role (Isabella Rossellini), Costume Design, Film Editing, Music (Original Score), Production Design, and Writing (Adapted Screenplay).

Dune (Part Two)A sci-fi classic, Frank Herbert’s Dune was adapted into two films to capture the sprawling epic. Dune: Part Two is nominated for Best Picture, Cinematography, Production Design, Sound, and Visual Effects.

The Wild RobotThis popular children’s book was adapted into an animated film and is nominated for Animated Feature Film, Music (Original Score), and Sound.

Nickel BoysColson Whitehead’s story about two young Black boys in Jim Crow-era Florida is nominated for Best Picture and Writing (Adapted Screenplay).

Black Box DiariesThe memoir that inspired this documentary chronicles the sexual assault of a young journalist in Japan and is nominated for Documentary Feature Film.
