Loren Chaidez, president of the Yonkers Historical Society, was recently interviewed on the Soundbreaker Podcast. In this interesting podcast episode, Chaidez describes his career as a promoter in the music industry. He began his career at Columbia Records and then he worked at Polygram Records. After working there, he created his own promotion company for independent record labels as well as major record labels.
Chaidez talks about the hard work that it took for him to be successful. He worked seven days a week and he put in long hours. Some of his clients were busy during the week, so he worked with them over the weekend.
In his 43 year career as a promoter, he worked with artists such as; Rihanna, Katy Perry, David Guetta, and many other well known artists. He also routinely attended shows at famous venues including The Roxy and CBGBs in New York City.
Chaidez’s advice to anyone that is interested in working in the music industry is to find their niche in the industry and for them to learn how to interact with a wide range of people. He also encourages people to persevere despite obstacles that they may face in their career.
Following his retirement from his company, Chaidez volunteered with the Yonkers Historical Society and he worked at the Sherwood House. He is currently the president of the Yonkers Historical Society.
