Webinar Spotlight: Government Resources for Post-Disaster Assistance

You may have heard that climate change is causing more severe weather. Not only are our summers hotter, but storms are also more dangerous and cause more damage. This can put your home, your neighborhood, and many businesses at risk of severe property damage during intense storms.

To help New Yorkers affected by these increasingly disastrous storms, the Office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is offering a free informational Zoom webinar on Government Resources for Post-Disaster Assistance.

If your property is damaged in a severe storm, you may be eligible to apply for disaster assistance. In the Zoom webinar, representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Small Business Administration, and New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services will be available to discuss how to apply for disaster assistance with their respective agencies, as well as how to navigate the appeals process.

Whether you are a renter or a homeowner, a non-profit organization or a business owner, or even if you work for a district or municipality, there are many different forms of post-disaster assistance available through state and federal government agencies. This webinar aims to provide information about how to access this important funding, such as individual and public assistance and disaster loans.

You can register for this webinar online here. You’ll have the opportunity to submit any questions you may have in advance of the webinar, as representatives will hold a Q&A after their presentation.
