Week Three: Monday, July 8: Exploring Cinema

“Adventure Begins at Your Library!”

To celebrate the joy of reading and bestow the spirit of adventure on your summer, the Yonkers Public Library has eight weekly themes to help you get the most out of your summer reading journey.

This week, July 8 to July 14, is “Exploring Cinema.”

Movies are magical. They can make us laugh, cry, cheer, and jeer right alongside the characters up on the big screen. Whether you love watching movies in the theater or you prefer to cozy up at home, there are plenty of great movies out there that it can be difficult to figure out where to start.

There are so many great movies that have been based on books - from “Harold and the Purple Crayon” to “Dune” to “Wicked”. Books transport us on the page and movies can take us on a journey on the screen, and Yonkers Public Library is the perfect place to pick up both the novel and the movie for the ultimate reading-watching experience!

Check out some of these book-movie pairs on display at the Crestwood Library, or poke around the YPL catalog to find your own book and movie pairing to enjoy this week. You can also check out some of these Recommended Book-To-Movie reads!
