The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates April 7 as World Health Day to increase awareness for specific health concerns for people around the world.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of World Health Day. Founded in 1948, the WHO promotes health, global safety and to serve vulnerable populations and achieve the highest level of health and well-being.
The theme for World Health Day 2023 is Health for All. Health is a human right, but 30% of the global population has no access to health services. Billions face barriers to accessible healthcare, and the global COVID-19 pandemic set back the progress many countries were able to make in offering accessible health services.
Making accessible healthcare a reality is a collaborative effort. Skilled healthcare workers providing quality, people-centered care can uplift individuals and communities to take care of their own and their families health. Policy makers who support investments in universal health coverage can also offer financial protection and access to high quality healthcare for impoverished and vulnerable communities.
