STEM/Technology
STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. These four fields share an emphasis on innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Event Details
Register separately for each topic you are interested in. The student will attend all 4 sessions during the week. No prior skills required for each workshop.
Week 1: Learn to code with Scratch Learn to use coding blocks to control characters, objects, and backdrops.
Week 2: Ampify (Digital Music Maker) Arrange sound bytes into sections to create your very own songs that can be exported to mp3 files.
Week 3: pixlr E (Digital Drawing) Use drawing tools to create a comic strip to tell a short story.
Week 4: PiskelApp (Animation) Learn how to bring characters to life in the form of a digital flip book.
Week 5: Minecraft City Building: Students work collaboratively in creative mode in a shared world where each student contributes to designing a city.
Week 6: Python: Use Repl.it to learn about the coding language, Python. Students learn how to format lines of code in order to create games, including how to use graphics with the Python “turtle” commands.
Week 7: Scratch 2 Whether or not you attended Scratch 1 learn to code using blocks or build off of the skills we learned in week 1 in order to create a multi level platforming game.
